The problem

CareCompare was built by John, a BC family member who has been navigating the senior care system — not once, but across multiple family members at the same time.

It started with John’s mother’s decline into dementia. Years of phone calls, waitlists, difficult conversations, moves that didn’t work out. Then, not long after her long-term care placement, Judy’s mother fell — fractured hip, hospital, and the sudden question: where does she go when she’s discharged? With her mother hospitalized, Judy’s father — who had quietly been relying on his wife — was now alone and struggling.

The gap we saw

When a care crisis hits, the existing options are a phone call to a nurse line, a referral to a social worker with a weeks-long queue, or a commercial directory that ranks providers by who paid the most. None of these give families what they actually need: a fast, honest, BC-specific answer to “what do we do right now?”

The information existed — buried across provincial health authority websites, licensing registries, and scattered provider listings. What was missing was a single place to make sense of it, organized around the decision a family actually has to make.

What we built

• A guided 5-question Navigator that takes your situation — who needs care, how urgent, what kind of support, budget, and city — and produces a personalized plan with local providers, cost estimates, and concrete next steps. Free, no account needed.
• Data-checked provider listings cross-checked against public and official sources where available, and enriched with real Google ratings. See how we check listings.
• Commission-free and independent — our results are never influenced by payments. Some providers choose enhanced directory listings, but that never touches your care plan or the Navigator’s recommendations.
• A BC cost calculator using 2026 rates from the Office of the Seniors Advocate and provincial Health Authority fee schedules. Estimate what care may cost in your situation.

Our Independence

CareCompare is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or funded by any senior living facility, operator, or health authority. Our Care Navigator results are based on your answers — never on payments. Some providers choose enhanced listings for more visibility on directory pages, but this never affects your personalized care plan or the order of your results.
